Membership in AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary is open to the mothers, wives, widows, grandmothers, sisters, daughters and granddaughters of AMVETS and female veterans who are currently serving or who have honorably served in the Armed Forces of the United States, including the National Guard and Reserve components, anytime after September 15, 1940.

The AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary serves veterans and their communities through giving donations and volunteering time with organizations such as: Cedar Bend Humane Society, Northeast Iowa Food Bank, Cedar Valley Hospice, John Tracy Clinic (for hearing, impaired and deaf children ages 18 months to 5 years); PAWS With a Cause (Assistance Dogs for people with disabilities); St. Jude’s Hospital for Children, Freedom’s Foundation, Iowa Veterans Homes, local hospitals, nursing homes, and schools. Scholarships are also awarded to local students that show a dedication to serving the needs of veterans and their communities.

In addition to our local members in the Cedar Valley, there is a network of AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary members across the country that provide support for local volunteers. Volunteering is the heart of AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary, and we work with the other groups within Post 49 (AMVETS, Sons of AMVETS, Junior AMVETS, and AMVET Riders) to provide assistance and outreach services to veterans and their families.
